Inkblot Virtual Counselling

HOEM is pleased to introduce a new benefit delivered through Inkblot, a provider of video counselling delivered on a secure and encrypted platform. Access is on-line with the ability to select from a short-list of best-matched counsellors based on your unique needs and preferences.  Appointments are booked directly on-line with your selected counsellor with the first 30-minute session free.

Following a complimentary initial session, HOEM is covering the cost of up to 2 additional hours of counselling per student.  Subsequent sessions with the same counsellor are reimbursable through student health benefits or can be paid privately.

HOEM Travel Concierge Service

Unfortunately we don't have the space available right now to offer our Travel Concierge Service - sorry about that! This means that if you're planning on moving into HOEM and you have to quarantine upon entering Canada, you'll need to make other arrangements for those two weeks. We'll be ready and waiting for you as soon as your quarantine period is up!

COVID Self-Reporting

Students experiencing symptoms

Students experiencing symptoms are asked to complete the self-reporting form HERE. Once received, our team will connect with the student via phone to gather additional information. Any student who has been in contact with someone confirmed to have COVID-19 or has been confirmed to have COVID-19 themselves, will be removed from the suite into a separate suite on their own and our staff will come in to do a thorough clean of the suite. The student will remain in a separate suite until 14 days has elapsed from the start of the symptoms and symptoms are no longer present, or they receive negative test results. During this time, the remaining suitemate(s) will be asked to monitor their health and our team will check in on them daily. HOEM is committed to supporting all students throughout this process while respecting the privacy of everyone involved.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include:

  • Fever
  • Tiredness
  • Dry cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Aches and pains
  • Sore throat

HOEM is an independently owned student residence and will remain fully open and operational throughout COVID-19. We are still welcoming new students and can't wait to meet you! Please see below for a list of measures we are taking to assist you through this time.

Building Procedures

There are a number of precautions we are taking to keep our HOEM safe. We continue to review and update these procedures as new information becomes available.

CLEANING

We have been taking a number of measures to adjust cleaning schedules and access to common areas throughout HOEM. Common areas are now open, with limits to the number of people allowed in each space. Masks are required in every common space including hallways.

Masks are available for all students living in the building, which they are able to request and pickup at the front desk.

We completed a treatment of Aegis Microbe Shield in all common areas (hallways, lobby, doors, amenities, stairwells, elevators, etc.). Aegis Microbe Shield is the only Health Canada registered, permanently bonding antimicrobial treatment and kills up to 99% of germs on contact. This product was applied to all high-touch areas and surfaces, killing germs on contact and reducing microbial growth on treated surfaces by up to 99%. Additionally, we continue to practice increased daily sanitization of all common areas.

One staff member continues to be on-site daily to assist with student needs.

Suite Style

HOEM’s suite layout allows for all students to have their own private bedroom and only share a washroom with one other student. The bi-weekly in-suite cleaning means that all common spaces in the suite will be thoroughly cleaned by our expert staff that will be assigned to specific suites for the year, and always be wearing masks and gloves when inside suites.

Prior to move-in, HOEM provides contact information for any suitemate(s), ensuring that students can connect with each other before arriving. At move-in students will be required to answer screening questions regarding their travel, close contacts and their health or if they’re experiencing any symptoms.

If students are arriving internationally, they’ll be required to follow any governmental isolation guidelines. We’ve developed our HOEM Travel Concierge program to assist any student arriving internationally to ensure they have private transportation from the airport to HOEM and we will arrange 3 meals a day to be delivered directly to their bedroom so that they don’t have to worry about anything!

Luxer One App

We encourage all residents to sign up for touchless package pickup with Luxer One. This will allow you to retrieve any delivery packages using an app on your phone without having to touch the package lockers. Instructions will be provided upon move-in.
